Cultural Day

On Friday we had our Cultural day. Cultural day was the day when we had to show our presentations to rooms 6 and 7. First we went to room 7s room. Room 7 were doing Europe and Room 6 were doing Asia. My favourite presentations were Italy and Spain from Room 7.

After morning tea it was us, Room 3. I was so nervous when we were up, but after my turn I was proud of myself because I was not that scared. My favourite out of Room 3 was Colombia, because they talked loud so that room 3,6 and room 7 could hear.

Next we were going to room 6. I liked their presentations. My favourite presentation out of all of their presentations was Japan.

I had a great day doing cultural day, it was so fun at school that day.

Touch Training

I’m looking forward to playing Touch because I want to learn how to play Touch properly. I’m expecting people to help us.

We are going to train for three weeks and then on the the fourth week we are going to have a tournament.

I think we are playing Touch because we are going to play in a tournament.

I think I’m going to see balls to train with when we are out on the field.

Film Festival 2013

When I came to school on Wednesday 13th November we were going to Sylvia Park to see the the Manakalani movies. Some of the movies were funny and some were not. There were 3000 students in two theatres. Room 3, Room 6, Room 7 and the Juniors had movies in the the Festival.

My favourite movie was Room 6. Room 6’s movie was about a lockdown. Leki and his other friends were playing basketball. Leki went for a shot but he threw the basketball over the fence, Leki friends said “aww you ruined it.” After lunch Leki and Simione were sitting down. They saw a man that had their basketball in his hand. Leki said “he's coming closer, let’s run!” They ran up the stairs but Leki fell on his leg. Simione was trying to pick Leki up the stairs, that was the funny part. The person that was following them was Mr Slade. Mr Slade said “you guys should have listened to me in class”. Leki and Simione said “sorry Mr Slade”. The last movie was Room 7 their movie is their song called friends.

After the movies we went back to school in the bus. I had a fun day at Sylvia Park Hoyts.

The Rosary

The Rosary is a prayer. We have beads to use while we are praying. First you have to say the sign of the cross, then the Creed, then one Our Father and 10 Hail Mary’s followed by one Glory be.

There is a crucifix at the end of the Rosary beads. This reminds us when Jesus died. The Rosary is not a necklace to wear, it is something that you pray with.

Squash

After morning tea there were going to be a awesome sport that we were going to play, it is called Squash. We went to the hall and sat down. The names of the people that are show us how to play squash  were Michael and Phil. They showed us the rules. There were 6 courts, one of them were a practice place. I was so excited that I was going to play Squash. Men have to wear tank tops and shorts and t-shirts. Woman have to wear a skirt and a t-shirt and a sports dress. Harrow School in England were the first people to play squash in 1830.

It looked like fun and when I had a turn it was fun. Even when I lost it was, I had a good game. We played king of the court, it was fun, I had to be at the third court. I stayed there for two games, but then I moved up to court two. After about six minutes I made it to the first court. It was me Patrick, Misiotei and Asipeli. The balls went so fast when it came past my face.

They were all hard, the winner was Patrick, he was hard to beat. Next we sat down and Phil said “who was the best man at playing squash?’’ someone said “Ramy Ashour’’, ‘‘who is the best woman to play squash?’’ asked Phil, someone else said ‘‘Nicol David”. I had so much fun for my first time playing squash.

After we had our break we went back on the stage and Nathan and Jackie were wearing farming clothes because we were singing gumboots and we sang welcome home that was the second to last song we sang. After that we had to sing She’s A Mod, all of the schools were going crazy when singing that song. After that song we finished and went to the backstage and waited for our parents. On a rainy morning we were going to church  and going to celebrate the feast of Pope Pius X. He was the one that made children have their Holy Communion. We went into the church then we had the bread and wine. We went into the hall and we had cake, it was a banana cake, it looked yummy. The juniors had to get the cake first then the seniors had to get it last. I  liked the cake, it was one of the best cakes. When the lunch bell rang we had to go to the hall and show our talents. Room 1 went first then 2, 4, 5, then us, we sang Haere mai and Something in the Water. After  us was room 6 and then room 7.

X Country

Wow it’s a lovely day to do X Country.

On Tuesday morning  the 13th of August, the whole school was running the X Country. After lunch we went and lined up then we had to go to the courts. The juniors were sitting in the court and the seniors were running.

Mr Slade he was catching up to me and he did, but then I started to run and I tried to catch up to Kalo but I couldn't. When we were near the finish line that’s when I ran past Kalo.  I came second to last and Mrs Williams said ‘‘how old are you?” I said ‘‘9”. I saw everyone sitting down on the court. When it was time for the juniors, we cheered really loudly for them all.

I had a lovely day.

The Assumption

We celebrate the Assumption because it is Mary’s heavenly birthday, it was on the 15 of August. Mary was taken up to Heaven and she became the Queen of Heaven. Pope Pius said that Mary’s body went up to heaven because they couldn't find her body and her bones. Some people say that Mary was dormition that means sleep and God took her to heaven and she sat between God and Jesus.

camping holiday

Once there was a family that were going on a holiday, but they were not going to have tv and phones. They just had tins of food, a pocket knife, fishing rod and gas oven. Dad was checking if they had everything and then said ‘‘let’s go now”. They went into the car and went to the bush to camp. Dad saw that they didn’t have the tent when they got there. They were so angry but they had to go back to the house. When they were back at the house the children said ‘‘what is the point going back to the bush?” Dad replied ‘‘So we can just stay here for the night Jack and Kimba”. The two children ran inside and locked the door and mum and dad had to stay in the tent outside.

rainbow birds

    Pin bright    Ausgrid

Years ago there were birds that were black, grey and brown the birds wanted to be colourful. The birds tried to make themselves colourful by putting leaves and petals on them.

Every day after it rained a beautiful rainbow came and the birds liked looking at the rainbow.  One day when the rainbow came the birds saw that the  rainbow was not beautiful anymore. They saw a bright bird that was a Phoenix. He said “can you help me fight the Roaches that are attacking the rainbow’’. Some birds said “yes” and some birds said “no”. The Phoenix and some of the birds left and they saw that they were too late, because the rainbow looked hideous with holes in it and the colours had turned dark. The Roaches were everywhere, there was 1000 of Roaches. The birds won the fight. The birds ate the Roaches that were on the rainbow then the rainbow got bright again.

The birds went to the rainbow and they went through the rainbow and they got colours on their feathers.  They went back to the forest and the birds that didn’t go were sad because the beautiful birds that went to the rainbow were now colourful.

My favourite thing this term was talking about water because we really learnt about water.  I didn’t know much about water and now I know that water is in our body and blood.

My least favourite thing this term was the chocolate chip key because it took so long! But I liked the machine to protect cookies which we had to build.
